Prayer Beacon...
A Salvation Army Prayer Beacon is a corps that has chosen to make prayer the major emphasis of its community life and mission. A Christian community committed to love God in prayer and love people in practice.

Purposes, Principles And Practices.

Prayerful
A non-negotiable rhythm of prayer will form the heartbeat of the PB, with seasons of more intense mission & quieter, more reflective seasons. There will be commitment to partnering other churches in prayer.

Creative
A prayer room & multi-sensory prayer spaces will allow freedom of expression in prayer & be a resource to other centres.

Merciful
All members are encouraged to serve those in need with every act supported by prayer, also being a learning ministry for other centres.

Hospitable
Prayer spaces will be open as much as possible, providing a place of pilgrimage where visitors are supported in prayer as part of the daily rhythm.

Missional
PB will seek ways to become the answer to its own prayers, offering its services to the local community and finding ways to actively bless local homes & businesses. Also prayerfully supporting the work of the       Salvation Army & the worldwide Church.

Learning
PB will be a place of discipleship & training, committed to promoting prayer locally & in the UK territory. Welcoming people to share in community life, where they can learn faith & life skills . PB will host & be actively involved in local, divisional & territorial prayer events, networking with boiler rooms & other prayer beacons.

These six practices have been taken from The Boiler Room Rule compiled by 24-7 Prayer 2005.

Join us in prayer. Our prayer themes for this week are…

Week Beginning 5th February

Bible text for the week

Psalm 147:5  'Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.'

Prayers for the week

Personal needs:-

This week pray into this as the Holy Spirit leads.

Lord Jesus, I remember your words to the disciples, that the kingdom of heaven belongs to little children, and that unless we become as little children we can never hope to enter that kingdom. Teach me what that means. Grant me the childlike qualities I need to grow in faith - a child's innocence and hunger to learn, a child's love and total trust. Help me, like them, to step out gladly into the great adventure of faith.     Amen.

 Intercesssion, pray for:-

  • The mentors in your life who have spurred you to move from theoretical faith into action.
  • Salvation Army Corps who do not have officer leadership that God will renew the strength of local leaders and that they will know that they are valued.
  • The vibrant witness of Christians living in Israel.
  • Steve Dunne who will be returning to New Zealand to continue his work as Pastor and for his charity working with pregnant young women offering adoption rather that abortion.
